Born in 1987 in Ahvaz, Iran. With a bachelor’s degree in computer software programming from Iran, Anahita moved to Armenia in 2010 to study music composition at Yerevan State Conservatory. In 2018, she moved to Germany to continue her musical and artistic journey where she studied in the Master degree program “Sound Art – Composition” at Hochschule für Musik Mainz at Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz.Anahita started her journey by being the first woman performing soundart on the streets of her hometown.

The grounding for her work lies in the deep understanding of the sonic aspects of language, human speech and the possibility of inducing visual perception through aural data. She acquired this knowledge while researching the linguistic roots of words based on their onomatopoetic impressions. As an artist, she is interested in walking between the line of extreme and subtle. The subtle can carry extreme messages and the extreme can have subtle nuances. Her walking this line is in many cases meant literal. She’s using herself as a subject to explore the individual suffering of humans and how to overcome it. Given her musical background, sound has been for a long time not only her primary, but her only media. Recently she has reached a point where she started to feel the need to use visual aspects like photos, videos and live performances as complementary layers in her projects because it forces her to put herself into situations that make her feel uncomfortable or insecure. Being often the subject of her own pieces, this adds an authentic layer that was missing before. On a personal level, it helped her facing her fears and insecurities as a woman and an artist.
